New England Fall Wedding Inspiration Board

We are currently in the process of fine tuning our BESWOON inspiration boards! We have a ton of fun selecting colors, textures and images to express a particular vision. While searching the internet for the perfect pictures, we could not help but notice all of the amazing fall wedding inspiration. Therefore, we put together a New England Fall Inspiration Board. We hope you love it as much as we do.

When planning a wedding, or any event, it can seem overwhelming to figure out a theme. We suggest starting small. Find colors and textures that appeal to you. Pin them to a specific board on Pinterest. Then, using the name of each color as a key word, such as “copper” or “coffee” search Pinterest and other platforms for additional inspiration. For example, “copper wedding inspiration.” Again, pin any images that jump out at you. Next, in order to pull everything together, you can create an inspiration board. There are many simple and free picture collage apps available which can be used to create inspiration boards. Photoshop and InDesign are also great options. For those who need a little extra help, check out Etsy for creative businesses who will put one together for you. If you are working with a wedding planner, throwing a party with a few people or just trying to explain your vision to your fiance then we highly suggest an inspiration board. Happy planning!

BESWOON: Past, Present & A Glimpse Into The Future

This blog post will give you a look into how BESWOON came to be and all that is to come. We were able to get the creator of BESWOON, Adrienne Horty, to take a few moments away from prepping for this years upcoming event in order to answer some of our questions. Thanks Adrienne!

What is BESWOON?
BESWOON is an experience for those that are planning a wedding in Maine or New Hampshire. It was created to provide inspiration to engaged couples and to share the talent and creativity that is available in the area.

What does the name mean?
From catering to cakes, lighting design to musicians – we want you to be swooning over all of the designs, connections, and ideas that you experience while you attend the event (BE – SWOON). It is also a play on words – instead of “be still your heart” we will “BESWOON” your heart.

Who should attend BESWOON?
If you are planning a wedding (or you know someone who is), save the date and join us for another incredible year. There is always an array of delicious food and drink to enjoy while listening to live music and experiencing cool ideas/designs!

How did you come up with the concept of BESWOON?
When I initially started my event planning business, I attended a couple of bridal shows to see if that was where I needed to market myself. I was truly stunned by the traditional, impersonal, over-crowded, business-like nature of these expos and decided there must be a better way to show excited couples what their wedding could be like.

This will be year number 4 for BESWOON! Have you made any changes?
We continue to grow and make improvements to the event every year, but the goal remains the same: provide a social setting in which engaged couples can connect with, and experience what talented vendors and other support systems have to offer during the wedding-planning process.

You are the creator BESWOON. Thanks for letting us interview you! So, who are you? :) What are your interests? What is your background?
This is always a hard question. To summarize who you are in a paragraph is difficult! Pertinent to this topic, I am an event planner. I own The Refinery which is a company that does mostly wedding planning. I LOVE weddings! The celebration of two people in love is something I have not gotten tired of witnessing and planning – and I’m not sure that I ever will.

I have a Master’s in Business Administration, but my career path (while rooted in marketing & communications) took some twists and turns before bringing me to the wedding industry.

I live in Camden with my husband, 1 ½ year old son, and Bernese Mountain Dog. When I’m not planning weddings, most likely I’m spending time with family – hiking, paddle boarding, and enjoying the lovely midcoast towns and their communities.

What’s a typical day for you look like?
I think the reason I love what I do is that there is no such thing as a typical day! Sometimes my day involves a lot of emails, calls, coffee dates and timelines. Other days I am at a beautiful venue setting up for an event (whether it’s a wedding or BESWOON) which can mean moving tables/chairs, decorating a dessert table, solving problems or managing people. There are so many duties involved in being an event planner, and every event is different, so every day is different.

What do you love about the wedding scene in Maine/New England?
The natural beauty that is abound in any wedding in Maine is phenomenal. You can have a seaside wedding, a farm wedding, a meadow wedding and they are all beautiful before you start adding the fun details!

I also love the network of talented vendors. We are colleagues and friends. Many of us have crossed paths multiple times, but usually there are still one or two events where you meet someone new.

What is your favorite spot in Maine?
I love visiting MDI. It is absolutely stunning in the summer/fall. It is peaceful and has a different pace to life; and if you want a place where your cellphone can be set aside (mostly because it may not work), then this is a good place to go to disconnect!

What do you love most about BESWOON?
It is a unique event that encourages creativity and interaction. It is fun. It is light. And yet it still gets the job done.

What do you have up your sleeve for this BESWOON 2017? Any hints?
We have some exciting stuff planned, but I don’t want to give any of it away too soon!

What is the easiest way to become involved with BESWOON?
If you are a wedding professional and want to get involved, send us an email! { – sales/marketing & – marketing/creative detail}

What do you envision BESWOON becoming in the next five years?
My hope has always been to expand BESWOON to other cities/areas. We are trying to prepare for BESWOON Boston, so we’ll see where it goes!

Stay tuned to find out more about BESWOON 2017. We will be releasing the date and location soon.

A Hairstyle For Each BESWOON 2016 Theme!

Southwest Bohemian: We all know the free-spirited vibe that goes along with this theme, so a hairstyle for this bride is ever-so-simple. We love beachy waves, fishtail braids and all kinds of flora woven in for a laid back and romantic look.

Winter Wedding: The Winter bride may be a bit more formal than her Southwest Bohemian friends, but that doesn’t mean she can’t have fun with her locks. Sparkly tiaras, intricate updos and stunning veils are all reminiscent of a winter wedding.

Indian Fusion: The ever festive nature of an Indian wedding calls for all of the bells and whistles..sometimes literally. Whether the bride rocks a tiara, a veil, flowers or all of the above, she is always the center of attention.
